Sonata Music Academy

Creating a visual system to help three apparently unrelated areas coexist

The Challenge
Sonata Music Academy's director and co-founder had a dream: he wanted to open a conservatory where he could teach his students classical music, the same way he was taught by his mentor, but in his own, unique way. However, he felt that he also needed to create a place where children could be introduced to the musical world from an early stage. At the same time, he also knew that times where changing and there was a huge market for people who didn't want to pursue a classical musical career but wanted to learn how to play an instrument nonetheless.

The problem with this is that conservatories are seen as very... conservative? If they ever want to be taken seriously they are expected to be elegant, even a bit boring. From a branding perspective, mixing a conservatory, a rockservatory and a kinder music academy was a challenge. How do you mix everything under one single brand?

The Solution
We condense what each of the sub brands stand for and find a visual element to work as a symbol. I wanted to keep it as simple as possible.
